Hey guys, how's it going?
00:02
It's Erik Valdez here, on set for Fighting Weights
00:05
and just having a bit of fun on one of the ropes here,
00:07
something I used to do as a kid, luckily I'm still able
00:10
to do that, for a variety of reasons, obviously big into
00:13
fitness, I've kept that part of my life,
00:15
for the most part of my life, there was a little
00:18
time in there when that wasn't really so important.
00:20
So when I was a kid I use to play all sorts of sports,
00:23
I played soccer for probably nine years,
00:25
I also played golf for several years
00:27
and when you're playing golf and not doing much else
00:29
and you're eating Grandy's, one of my favorite restaurants
00:32
back then, hashbrown, bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and
00:35
a 32 ounce Dr. Pepper for breakfast every morning,
00:37
it tends to put a little bit of weight on you
00:40
and it was around that time too I started racing cars,
00:44
my number one passion when I was about 15
00:46
and my dad one day said You know, if you put as much effort
00:51
in yourself as you do your cars, you'd go somewhere.
00:54
And couldn't really argue with that point
00:56
and when you're racing cars every pound is precious,
00:59
you know, it's tenths of a second on a road course,
01:02
so I decided you know what, he's right and I nee to do
01:04
something about this and so I did.
01:07
And I remember weighting myself on day one, when I started
01:10
this and I was 197 pounds
01:14
and after about 9 months worth of
01:16
sticking to that diet and working out 6 days a week,
01:19
I went down to 141.
01:22
Today I'm about 160 to 162, this is where my body is happy,
01:26
I'm right around nine or 10 percent body fat.
01:29
So, you know, I'm not a world class athlete, but then again,
01:31
that's not the point. So when I'm back home my typical
01:34
week looks something like this, I try to workout five
01:37
days a week, at least and I'll vary it. I'll jump on my
01:40
bike and go for a, you know, 15, 18 mile bike ride.
01:43
I live out by the beach, which is cool, so we've got some
01:45
rings and some ropes, like gymnastics type stuff that I'll
01:48
go out there and, I don't look the prettiest doing it
01:50
but it's a lot of fun, It's a really good workout.
01:52
So, that's my tip I guess, keep it fun, find thing you
01:54
really like to do that keep you in shape and do them.
